Trademark Lady Gaga (Phaze 2)

As various sources reported, Lady Gaga is suing cosmetics company Excite Worldwide LLC for seeking to acquire trademark of the name "Lady Gaga By Design," charging that the company is attempting to use her stage name for make-up and baubles without permission. Based on U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records, the applications had not been approved yet, but the suit, filed in a Manhattan Supreme Court, charges the company with trying to "squat" on Lady Gaga's rights "by filing frivolous applications" that are thwarting her own trademark efforts.Through her company Ate My Heart, Inc, the person publicly known as Lady Gaga already registered multiple trademarks, with additional trademark applications pending. At present, the Trademarkia site shows 36 trademarks for Ate My Heart, Inc, including the names "Lady Gaga," "Little Monsters," "Lady Gaga Fame," "Jo Calderone," "Haus of Gaga," "Monster," and "Bad Romance." The name "Bad Romance" alone covers trademarks for "musical sound recordings, audio-visual recordings featuring music and musical-based entertainment; downloadable musical sound recordings and audio-visual recordings featuring music and musical-based entertainment; downloadable ringtones via a global computer network and wireless devices; computer application software for mobile phones,... printed materials,... clothing, gift certificates,... on-line chat rooms,... entertainment services...".
