On May 11, 2012, at 6:10pm, sociologist Mathieu Deflem will give a guest lecture at Tokyo University of the Arts in Tokyo, Japan. Discussing the fame of Lady Gaga and the phenomenon of J-Pop, the talk extends from Deflem's work on the sociology of fame in the context of the globalization of popular music. More information is available online along with the location of the seminar, organized by Dr. Yoshitaka Mori, at Senju Campus Daiichi Kogisitsu 1-25-1, Senju, Adachi-ku Tokyo.

Tokyo University of the Arts is the alma mater of many famous Japanese artists, including musician Ryuichi Sakamoto and designer Noritaka Tatehana, who designed the heel-less shoes that Gaga often wears. Good place for a Gaga sociology talk!
