Paglia on Gaga (Sunday Times 2010)

Camille Paglia wrote an article, "Lady Gaga and the Death of Sex," in the magazine of The Sunday Times, September 12, 2010. The article is introduced as follows: "Her fans see Lady Gaga as an erotic icon and a breaker of taboos, but Camille Paglia, America’s foremost cultural critic, argues that she is an asexual, confected copycat who has seduced the internet generation..."

Here are a few excerpts... "Fans of Gaga have grown up with cell phones and iPods as sticky extensions of their bodies... Lady Gaga is a manufactured personality, and a recent one at that... Every public appearance – even, absurdly, at airports, where most celebrities want to pass incognito – has been lavishly scripted in advance... Can it be that Gaga represents the exhausted end of the sexual revolution?..."
